See what needs you from your Home screen¶
A widget on your Home screen shows how many agent sessions are waiting on you, and the newest few of them by name. Tap the number to go to the first project with something waiting, or a row to go straight to that conversation.
The number is the one the Mac's Dock badge shows: every agent asking a question, waiting for a permission, or stopped with something it could not finish.
Before you start¶
- Agents on your Mac, and the iPhone or iPad app installed and paired with it (see Answer a question or a permission request).
Steps¶
- On your iPhone or iPad, press and hold an empty part of the Home screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget.
- Search for Agents and tap it.
- Choose the size: Small for the number, Medium for the number and the sessions behind it. Tap Add Widget, then Done.
The widget fills in as soon as the app has been open since you installed it. Until then it says Open Agents, because it has nothing to report and a zero would be a claim it cannot back.
Read it
- Small is the number, and whether anybody is waiting. Orange means somebody is.
- Medium adds up to four sessions, newest first: what the agent is called, which project it is in, and what it is asking for. If more are waiting than fit, +3 more counts the rest.
- Once nothing is waiting, the widget says Nothing waiting rather than showing a zero with nothing under it.
Open one
- Tap a row to go to that conversation.
- Tap the number, or the widget when there is no row to tap, to go to the first project with something waiting. When nothing is waiting, it goes to the list of projects.
Keep it honest
The number is written by the app, so it is only as fresh as the app last knew. The app writes it whenever the count moves, when it comes to the front, and when your Mac tells it something changed, so a number that has not moved for a while stays as it was until you open the app. When it is more than a few minutes old, the widget says how long ago it was updated underneath.
If it doesn't work¶
- The widget says Open Agents. The app has not been opened on this device yet, or the count has never been written here. Open the app once.
- The number is one or more behind the Mac. The app has not heard from your Mac. Open it: it refreshes, and the widget follows.
- Nothing is waiting but the Mac's Dock badge says otherwise. An agent that has finished and that you have not looked at is counted until you read it. Read it in the app, and the count goes down.
- The widget is greyed out. That is a placeholder, which iOS draws before the first real one has been made. It draws what the widget will look like, and is never counted.
